Cheese Headaches

I have definitely determined that I can no longer have cheese.   Within a few hours of eating cheese, I develop a headache.  I am not sure however, that it is lactose that is causing the headaches.  Normally for me, high doses of lactose just disrupt my GI tract.  I am still researching this.

I also found a list of foods that are known to cause headaches.  Here it is:

  • Ripened cheeses
  • Herring – pickled or dried
  • Chocolate
  • Anything fermented, pickled or marinated
  • Sour cream
  • Nuts, peanut butter
  • Sourdough bread, breads and crackers containing cheese or chocolate
  • Broad beans, lima beans, fava beans, snow peas
  • Foods containing monosodium glutamate (MSG) – soy sauce, etc
  • Figs, raisins, papayas, avocados, red plums
  • Citrus fruits
  • Bananas
  • Pizza
  • Sausage, bologna, pepperoni, salami, summer sausage, hot dogs
  • Chicken livers
  • Alcoholic beverages
