I have definitely determined that I can no longer have cheese.  Within a few hours of eating cheese, I develop a headache. I am not sure however, that it is lactose that is causing the headaches. Normally for me, high doses of lactose just disrupt my GI tract. I am still researching this.
I also found a list of foods that are known to cause headaches. Here it is:
- Ripened cheeses
- Herring – pickled or dried
- Chocolate
- Anything fermented, pickled or marinated
- Sour cream
- Nuts, peanut butter
- Sourdough bread, breads and crackers containing cheese or chocolate
- Broad beans, lima beans, fava beans, snow peas
- Foods containing monosodium glutamate (MSG) – soy sauce, etc
- Figs, raisins, papayas, avocados, red plums
- Citrus fruits
- Bananas
- Pizza
- Sausage, bologna, pepperoni, salami, summer sausage, hot dogs
- Chicken livers
- Alcoholic beverages
Ouch. This condition sucks.
I hope you can find foods that you can eat.
Be well.
you might want to try the elimination diet to really pinpoint what foods you react with.
according to that list pretty much everything gives a person headaches
