Last Sunday I was at the staff meeting at Club 3 Degrees. The meeting itself was different than most in that it was a “dry run” for the new “late night” initiative. Basically, the club is going to stay open until 4AM to try and get some of the bar patrons that need Jesus in and get some seeds planted. There will be a $3 cover charge and a minimalistic menu (eggs, sausage, pancakes, etc). If you order something off of the menu, your $3 cover credits towards the food order. There will also be free coffee.
There is usually a sermon of some kind at these staff meetings, so after we got our orders and most everyone was finished eating, Pastor Steve got up to talk. He said that with it being an anniversary of September 11, he got to thinking about terrorism. Terrorism eventually led to end times revelation. I am going to try to relay everything that he said, but I don’t have any of the biblical references yet. I also suspect that I will forget some things…
Anyway, he started out by telling us that we should take this all with a grain of salt. It’s not necessarily correct, but it should make us think about the end times.
In parts of the bible, it mentions that the Anti-Christ (AC) will rise up from 12 tribes. I think it was in Daniel’s vision that he sees the AC as a small horn surrounded by 12 larger horns. Some theologians takes this to mean that the AC is going to rise up from an alliance of 12 nations and he will have a small, insignificant start.
Back when the European Union was getting started, many were thinking about the one-world government mentioned in end times prophecy. The assumption at the time was that the AC would be coming from one of those nations. However, the EU has 23 or so members, much more than the 12 mentioned biblically. Is there an alliance that currently has 12 member nations? Yes. The League of Arab Nations has 12 members.
A few years ago, Steve and his brothers were talking about these biblical prophecies and they were looking for more recent predictions about the AC. The only one that they found was by Nostradamus. He claims that the AC will be called MABAS. He was very close when he predicted Hitler, by calling him HISTLER. Anyway, one of Steve’s brothers took the information about MABAS and started looking at the current world leaders and advisors. Lo and behold, he found someone named Mahmoud Abbas, which as you know shortened is M. Abbas, which could be seen as similar to MABAS.
Well, Mr. Abbas has been involved in world politics for quite some time, however he was always in the background until recently. He had been Yasser Arafat’s right-hand man throughout his stint as the Palistinian Prime Minister. Evidently, he had always gone by a different name, Abu Mazen, until he was elected as Arafat’s replacement. Whenever a picture was taken of Yasser Arafat, Mr. Abbas was inevitably in the background, however, he almost always had his head turned from the camera. Could this show that he is the small horn, starting off as fairly unknown to the majority of the world?
He is known as a peaceful negotiator and most of the world powers recognize him as such. He was the main author of the Oslow Peace Accord. He has said on numerous occasions that the way to peace is not through violence and by saying such, condemns terrorism. There are some other things that many don’t know about him however. He is a Nazi sympathizer and says that the holocaust didn’t actually happen the way the Allies said it did.
He was born in Safed, Israel in 1935. It is interesting as one of the Jewish predictions state that the messiah will be born in Safed. Some predict that he will give Israel back the land for the Temple as part of a peace treaty, which will make the Jewish people love him. It is said that the material needed to rebuild the temple is ready and sitting in storage. The minute that the land is given back to Israel, it probably won’t take too long to get the temple rebuilt.
When the temple is rebuilt, the Anti-Christ will enter and claim to be the messaiah. Is Mahmoud Abbas the Anti-Christ and is he preparing to enter the temple? I don’t know, but it is interesting to think about. Are we really living in the end times?
Hmm, something to think about
