I just read this today… I wonder if it is a hoax or if it actually works. Might as well give it a shot and see.
The designers of some elevators include a hidden feature that is very handy if you’re in a hurry or it’s a busy time in the building. While some elevators require a key, others can be put into “Express†mode by pressing the “door close†and “floor†buttons at the same time. This sweeps the car to the floor of your choice and avoids stops at any other floor. This seems to work on MOST elevators. Almost all elevators have the option for this to work but on some of them the option is turned off by whomever runs them.
Hey! Whaddya know! That works perfectly in our elevator at work. Cool. I can now get from the bottom floor to the top floor without stopping at any of the other floors between 1 and, uhm, 2.
That’s cool, but you forgot to mention the trick for stairs. There’s a way that when you’re taking the stairs that you don’t have to stop at other floors to let people in. What you do is when you’re walking up the stairs and you get a to a floor that isn’t your floor yet, you just keep walking. If someone comes through the door and tries to get in front of them, you don’t let them – just keep walking. I’m serious, it really works – try it sometime!
I know the trip for getting _down_ stairs quickly…
