This last weekend at church, Pastor Bob talked about unease in the current economic reality. I am too young to remember, but evidently there have been lots of economic cycles before this one, the last being a couple decades ago and going back even as far as Egypt in Joesph’s time.
For instance the Feb 8, 1982 Time Cover talks about unemployment. We have the same issues now.
The January 19, 1981 issue talks about the incoming president’s greatest challenge being the economy. Then it was Reagan, now it is NObama.
July 7, 1989 talks about OPEC tightening the oil supply to make Gas prices sky rocket.
It is fascinating to look back at the various Time Magazine covers and see the cycles that keep repeating every so often. Here is another reason to study history so we can see that we can weather the storm and things will get better. We also need to remember that things will get worse.
