In an article on National Geographic, a scientist suggests that it may not be global warming that is causing the majority of our higher temperatures, but solar warming. Evidently, Mars has been experiencing higher temperatures for the last three years as well. The scientist that is putting forth this idea, Habibullo Abdussamatov, head of the St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory in Russia, says the Mars data is evidence that the current global warming on Earth is being caused by changes in the sun. He also says that “The long-term increase in solar irradiance is heating both Earth and Mars”.
