If <del datetime="2009-01-06T16:23:31+00:00">N</del>Obama agrees to this, he might gain a point of respect from me. He will still have a very long way to go before he will make me believe that he was the better choice…

“Forgive Student Loans: Stimulate the Middle and Lower Middle Class

    Forgive Student Loans!

The American middle and lower classes are crippled under the weight of educational debt; in these unusual times, as we bail out lenders and executives, we encourage the Obama administration to forgive student loans, providing a bail-out to the people and simultaneously increasing their spending power.

In 2009, we enter a new age, where anything is possible. As our industries falter, we have no choice but to reconsider how we do just about everything, from governing to banking to educating our people.”

Comcast announced today that starting October 1, they are capping their “Unlimited” network bandwidth use to 250GB per month. In this day and age, this is ridiculous.

First of all, I am fixing everyone’s computers all the time which many times requires a fresh install of an OS, plus downloading patches. This can easily be more than 1GB per machine. This can be 5 to 10 in a busy month = 5 to 10 GB.

Secondly, I listen to a lot of Podcasts. I probably download 3 or 4 a day at between 100 to 250MB each. Probably 20GBs in a month.

I also watch a lot of Hulu.com, which each show is a minimum of 250MB. I have been watching the A-Team, Airwolf, etc. So there are a lot of shows to download. I can easily see me using 100GB a month just in that. I can watch them on my computer while working on another computer.

Just me in a busy month can be 150GB by myself. Now, take into account that I have 3 other people living in this house (My wife and two basement-mates), we can easily go over the stupid limit.

Wow. If there were any, I mean any, other way to get fast broadband at my house, other than Comcast, I would so jump ship.

There is a new scam going around on Facebook.

“The scam involves a notice appearing on the wall of user profiles as a message from a friend, saying “Hey, I got a new facebook account. Im going to delete this one, so add my new profile” then with a link that appears to be a link to the new profile. The actual link goes to a URL on view-facebookprofiles.com, a domain registered (and whois protected) on Namecheap and hosted at Softlayer that looks identical to the Facebook login page:

Users fooled into resubmitting their Facebook details on this page then have their Facebook accounts hijacked and all of their contacts receive a similar message, propagating the phishing scam.”

“DirecTV DVR owners got some bad news from the satellite TV provider recently when the company announced that it will break some of the existing functionality of the DVRs. Effective April 15, subscribers will only have 24 hours to watch pay-per-view movies recorded to their DVRs. Once the movies are purchased, the clock starts ticking, and after 24 hours, the PPV movie saved to your DVR will become nothing more than an unreadable collection of zeros and ones. ”

Talk about crappy. Sorry mom and dad. You will have to go back to renting DVDs for a week at a time.
