Fraud Redux

I have been getting quite a lot of searches for the shadow companies listed (aprosupport.com, epoch.com, jetchrg.com, paycom, rknethelp, rknetmedia) in my fraud report, but for whatever reason the results are pointing to this page, rather than the actual post.

Here is the post for those of you whose results are not accurate.

Sorry. It’s a Google thing.

Yet Another Reason to Leave Comcast…

Comcast announced today that starting October 1, they are capping their “Unlimited” network bandwidth use to 250GB per month. In this day and age, this is ridiculous.

First of all, I am fixing everyone’s computers all the time which many times requires a fresh install of an OS, plus downloading patches. This can easily be more than 1GB per machine. This can be 5 to 10 in a busy month = 5 to 10 GB.

Secondly, I listen to a lot of Podcasts. I probably download 3 or 4 a day at between 100 to 250MB each. Probably 20GBs in a month.

I also watch a lot of Hulu.com, which each show is a minimum of 250MB. I have been watching the A-Team, Airwolf, etc. So there are a lot of shows to download. I can easily see me using 100GB a month just in that. I can watch them on my computer while working on another computer.

Just me in a busy month can be 150GB by myself. Now, take into account that I have 3 other people living in this house (My wife and two basement-mates), we can easily go over the stupid limit.

Wow. If there were any, I mean any, other way to get fast broadband at my house, other than Comcast, I would so jump ship.

CC.Net Got Mentioned in a blog…

That’s pretty cool. It is listed as number 73.

Maybe eventually it will take off with more and more users…

Back!

We are back in the swing of things now after taking a few days off for our anniversary. We went to White Water State Park, just north of St Charles, MN (about a half hour east of Rochester).

We camped in a spot just along the river and got to wander up and down the waterway. It was fun and very relaxing. There were two specific things that we will remember.

The first one is that there really were NO MOSQUITOES there. It was amazing!

The second thing is that we made the best tasting chicken and potatoes that we have ever made.

We spent a day wandering through the trails and such and even went looking for the DNR geocache there. Unfortunately, the woods were too deep for our GPS and we failed to find anything (Sorry mom).

The new truck was great. It rides quite nice and it is very roomy and comfortable.

Now we go back to work. Luckily I can work from home next week so I don’t have to “brave the traffic” from the RNC…
