We had our last hockey game of the season last night. The red team kept up our winning streak by beating the black team in a very close game. The final score after an hour straight was 12 to 11. There were only 3 goals that I felt I should have saved. The rest were the kind where it took 2 or 3 rebounds to get in the net. On the 3 that I should have saved, I think my stick had two holes in it that I can’t seem to find today and my glove had 1.Â

Another Hockey Season Ends
Death …
Last night at Radius we found out that one of the girls that was in 8th grade died in a car accident on Tuesday. Evidently she and her mother and brother were on their way back from Florida in the early morning. The investigators think the mom fell asleep at the wheel in Wisconsin and crossed over the median and crashed in one of the ditches.
Her mom died instantly. She was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the car. Her brother has only scratches and is shaken up. She was sent to Regions and after a day or so, it was determined that she didn’t have any brain activity so they elected to take her off of life support. She died sometime around 9PM.
It was quite and emotional night last night.
Pray for her brother and her father. To lose a mom/wife and a sister/daughter… I can’t even imagine.
… And Taxes
This is interesting. With all of the talk we are hearing of taxes in the senate and house, we should all read this:
Minnesota’s income tax ranks fourth in the nation, with Oregon having the highest income tax. With state and local taxes combined, Minnesota ranks eighth. New York is the highest.
For corporate income taxes, Minnesota ranks number 12 in the country. Alaska has the highest rate.
New Hampshire has the highest property taxes, while Minnesota ranks 37th.
As for the smaller, out-of-pocket taxes, Minnesota’s 20-cent-a-gallon gas tax ranks 27th in the country. New York’s is the highest.
The motor vehicle tax in Minnesota is the 10th highest, while Montana makes the top of that list.
The sales tax in Minnesota ranks 21st. Hawaii has the highest sales tax in the nation.
Here’s the REALITY. Everybody has their own statistics and here are ours. Averaging all of Minnesota’s important tax rankings, Reality Check finds Minnesota is 18th among the 50 states — at the high end of the middle.

If you dislike American Idol…
Go read Justin Morken’s article. He brings up some good points, mainly:
1. AMERICAN IDOL ISN’T ALL ABOUT THE AVERAGE JOE (AS IT IMPLIES IT IS)
2. AMERICAN IDOL PROMOTES A “GET RICH QUICK” MINDSET
3. MUSIC ISN’T A COMPETITIVE SPORT
Puppies
Oh yeah,
Missy had her puppies over the weekend. She had 2 white females, 3 black females, 1 white male, and 1 black male. Both she and Dougly are pure blood labs, she is a black lab and he is yellow lab. They will be for sale once they are ready.
She is probably going to kill me for posting that picture!Â
