I looked at another duplex today.

Jeremy and I looked at a duplex located at 3125 Central Ave (not too far from you, Joel). It was really, really nice inside. We think it was one of those flipped houses that failed. It has dropped $80K since originally put on the market. It has new windows, new floors, new carpet, new counters and cupboards, new bathroom equipment… It’s really nice.

My second-born has been birthed!

Hot on the heels of Tech Rescue changing, I have started another company with two of my co-workers; Eric (the Database Administrator) and Andrew (the .NET programmer). I will play the role of Project Manager and public face, because dangit, I have people skills! The company is called Switchsoft Consulting (currently nothing there). We are going to be a custom software consulting service. We envision getting calls from companies that want to convert or converge data and still be able to use it, who want to update current accounting or industry specific software packages to either fat-clients (windows based applications) or thin-clients (web-based applications), or just plain want a program that will do something specific.

We are fairly certain we already have our first client. It is a financial company that handles about $2 billion a year! They have a bunch of data all over and want to tie it all together and be able to mine it.

Wrestling

I got an email on Tuesday night from Nora. She said she would love for me to come to the wrestling event at First Avenue that was held on tonight.

She put me on the guest list and I met up with her and 3 of her massage therapy classmates as well as Shelton’s best friend Troy and a girl he met recently. The other 4 girls there had never really seen much about wrestling and were amazed that Nora used to do it. It was kind of funny listening to them talk.

We stayed until about 10:30, at which time I walked Nora and her classmates out to her car. Nora asked me which service I was going to this weekend and said that she hoped that we end up going to the same one. I said I would probably go on Sunday. We hugged goodbye and I went home.

It was fun and interesting.

This weekend was FULL

This weekend was full.

Friday night was supposed to be kickball. It got rained out, so we went to Flaherty’s in Arden Hills. I didn’t feel like bowling, so I just watched. It was fun anyhow. I left after the first hour of play and went home to get ready to go to my parent’s house. I got everything together and left at about 10:30. As I drove north on 94, I saw a Police Fund Raiser (speed trap) where 494 and 94/694 join. It didn’t look like it was the State Patrol though. I thought I saw indication of county cars.

I decided to try driving up 94 to Sauk Center and catch 71 to Park Rapids. It was pretty uneventful. I expected to see quite a few deer, but I actually didn’t see any until I got closer to my parent’s house in Osage. I got there shortly after 2AM. At first, nobody was awake but the dogs. As soon as I walked in the door, Mad-D and Sophie started barking like crazy.

I went upstairs and went to bed, only to get up at 8AM. I was up before my dad was! When dad got up, we filled up his truck and went to the dump. That’s always a blast! :) When we got back, we moved the couch and did some other minor moving (enough that I don’t remember what it was). Then we moved his huge filing cabinet over to his new office in Detroit Lakes. That thing was heavy.

We got back and ate hamburgers. Then I worked on mom’s computer for a while. I helped her install the Spam Bayes plug-in for Outlook that filters spam and learns as it does. I spent a while training it so it should work pretty well now. Then I uninstalled McAfee and put AVG on, and installed the Microsoft Anti-Spyware program.

The rest of the evening was spent watching TV. I have not had cable television for about 3 years, so it is kind of nice to be able to sit and watch it sometimes. Danah called and left me a message (I had called her Friday afternoon to let her know that I was heading up that way) and asked if I wanted to get together with her before I left on Sunday. I called her back and left a message inviting her to Zorba’s with my parent’s and me.

I got another call from Danah on Sunday morning. She said that her church gets done about 12:30 and that if we wanted to go to Zorba’s about 1, it would work. So, that’s what we did. Zorba’s was good, like it always is. I had a Lee’s Taco, which is a hard shelled taco tucked into a soft shell. The Packers / Vikings game was on while we were there. Danah is a huge Packer fan, evidently getting it from her father, and I could tell that she wanted to watch the game. We got done about half-time and my parent’s left for home.

I went over to the place that Danah is living for the next 8 months. It is really nice, but a little crowded for me. The woman that owns the place is a realtor and she has traveled all around the world. Most of the stuff in her place is stuff that she has collected on her travels. We ended up watching the rest of the game and generally hanging out. After the game was done, she turned off the TV and we sat and talked for the next three hours. Sometime during, Opal came home and I met her. She is a really nice older lady. She stayed for about 15 minutes and then left.

At about 6PM I left Detroit Lakes and headed home. I stopped in Wadena to get fuel and other than that, drove straight through. I got home about 10PM and went to bed. I had a full weekend, but it was fun. I would do it again if I had the chance.
